For sometime now I find it deficult to make calls from nitel landline to MTN network, Why is it so now?

Its always very difficult, but after several attempts of interference with other pples lines it eventually goes thru, but there is easy connectivity btw Mtel, Vmobile, Glo and Nitel, i think the fault could be becos a lot of pple are using MTN than the other networks, cos u find out that during the offpeak periods calls easily go thru than during the peak periods.

U are correct. I don't really know what has gone wrong again between MTN and NITEL landline. I can call Glo, MTEL and VMobile lines on my landline without any stress, but no matter how hard I tried, I can't call MTN from my landline.
I think the old rift of inter-connectivity between MTN and NITEL is yet to be fully settled.

Honestly, sometimes one is tempted to lose interest in this mobile technology thing because if basic things like making voice calls are too expensive and too unreliable, why should we even bother about advanced GSM/CDMA services like Internet browsing, MMS, WAP, and so on? Phone network subscribers need consumer asssociations and lobby groups to protect their interests. NCC can only do so much; afterall they are the ones giving the 4 GSM networks a virtual monopoly by selling only a few licenses. A consumer group would rather have tens or hundreds of competing networks because competition forces service providers to provide better services.

a little bit of information sure does work magic. what i mean, well thanks to cooapostle's site i was able to discover why this is so. MTN apparently had a dispute with NITEL. they claimed NITEL was owing them money for things to do with interconnectivity. and so to punish them they've made it hard to get MTN lines from NITEL landlines. kinda funny huh? but when u're the king in the market everything worls for u abi.
sha all what u guys said is true but u can get MTN from NITEL landline after serious redialling. and if the MTN line u're calling is within ur state it might not take too much redialling. i make most of my calls with my land line so i can authoritattively tell u this. in the night/off peak periods as angelgirl said it's some what easier. anyway of recent getting MTN has been easier for me. last night i was getting MTN on the first dial, and this afternoon it didn't take too many redials like before.

I agree with angel girl, but some time i also believe that nitel is also owing MTN.

Yes o! I agree wit u guys. Each time I try to dial an MTN number wit a nitel land line the next thing I hear is a kinda busy tone, but calls to other networks go at the first dial unless the number is unavailable.
However, on several "desperate" redials I get through but not for too long I notice, cos after a while the line goes numb!

Its difficult to get mtn numbers from nitel land lines because that's the way mtn wants it. They have reduced the number of E1s connected to nitel to enable them have capacity for other networks since they see nitel as the unrepentant debtor. But u see its good for nitel cos they pay less interconnectivity fees to mtn and the question is did are those debts real or made up?

I also found out recently that sometime it is deficult to get mtn -mtn some time they will tell you the number is not on the mtn network , What is wrong this time.?
