Hello everyone, I am still trying to be found of this site cos its one place I always love to be on the net.
I was at one of reltel office yesterday and I saw what I will call "INTERNET ON THE GO" Informations I got were:
Full package is 40k with 1 month free internet access, after which you can pay monthly access of 5k for 6pm-6am or 10k for 24hrs. I think it's cool.
What do yoo all know about this stuff? Who is using it yet? Is it really as good as it sounds?

Anyone with useful info plzz!

Well, I haven't used it yet, but I saw it at e-NNOVATE 2005.
It cannot be any different from Reltel's regular Internet service. Only difference now is you can carry it around.
The Pocket PC is big (bigger than a P800), but surprisingly very light and comfortable when I picked it up.
Gives you full internet for use on the device itself or on your PC/laptop.

@lucky: Not quite sure what you mean by "how it works".
The Pocket PC is touchscreen, meaning you use a stylus. Usually no WAP browser, only Pocket Internet Explorer, which is Web. What else?
To get one, take your N39,995 to any Reltel office and you walk out a proud owner.
You'll probably have to find out other nitty-gritty details by asking Reltel or reading the manual.
Its your call ![]()
The Pocket PC is touchscreen, so you use a stylus.

The problem I sort of have with the CDMA networks is that whether you use the Internet access or not, you still pay your full fee. At least with Glo's present pricing format, I pay for what I use, and if I do not use it, my account stays intact.
I sort of like the idea that I have control over the bills I pay.

But AYA, don't you spend more than that fixed amount on Glo every month?
Good question. My monthly bills reflect the sum total of voice calls, SMS, MMS, and Internet access. And even then, there are months I do exceed that cost and there are months I do not.
I was not really giving advise when I posted that; just one of the reasons I prefer my choice.
In the final analysis, its up to each person to determine what works for him.

I actually prefer gprs because there's the option of MMS and you're charged for only what you use + it's available in almost all states where there's gsm network signal as opposed to reltels which is limited to Lagos.
With time, gprs costs will fall rapidly once Mtel and Vmobile launches.
There's gonna be a lot of competition and it'll be sooooo cheap like in foreign countries where people pay about $5 for unlimited monthly gprs:lol:
GPRS and internet prices will crash more rapidly than phone calls because MTN is not involved here, thank God they dont have the capability yet...![]()

You do have good points there in favour of GPRS. And I share the same sentiments about GPRS charges falling.
But I envisage CDMA internet fees crashing as well, all in response to competition. The CDMA boys are seriously looking for a way to stay afloat.

Aya, pls there is a question; other smart phones like the P900 & P940 that has html browser, can u use that html browser with the normal glo gprs network or is it that it is restricted to wap only? cos in as much as we look at the prices, we should also look at what we are getting in return in terms of page downloads. (minus the speed first.)

@Nayture: Your question is not very clear, but hope this answers it.
The built-in browsers on the P-series are both WAP & Web enabled. If you are on Glo WAP GPRS, it works, though you can only browse WAP sites and limited Websites since that is a WAP account. If you are on GloDirect (full internet), it works, but this time you can access most Internet/Web content. I say most because the P800 built-in browser for example does not support javascript. So, you can't get the bestof javascript sites.
However, the beauty ofthe P-series is that you can install a 3rd party browser that does e.g. Opera, & NetFront.

that is what I really mean to ask, so with this palm pc that reltel is giving, u can as well access full internet right?
if that is the case, i think I prefare the reltel thing not considering speed but the mobility of the full internet.
