Re: A Day Without a Phone

About 2 weeks ago, I thought I carried my phone with me in the car, forgetting that at the last moment before pulling out, I went back inside my house to take something, thereby leaving my phone on my bed. Before I reached my office, I visited 3 other offices at Ikeja. It was while I was in the third office that I discovered I did not have my phone with me. I went back to the car, no phone. I called the line, it rang but no answer. I was sure I left home with it. I went back to the last 2 offices I visited, they did not see any phone.

That day in the office seems to be one of my worst days. I Imagine how many calls I have lost. What happened to my phone? Where is it? Has it been stolen where I parked my car? How? But thanks God when I got home later in the day, there it was, lying on the bed, with so many missed calls and text messages. I grabbed it with Joy.
U don't know the value of what u have till u missed it. Have u ever missed your phone?

Re: A Day Without a Phone

There was a day my phone got soaked in water, and the phone went off. I nearly run mad, am just like a ghost and after hours of reviving the phone without sucess, and am not within my area. I just called one small boy with one bigger phone (Bosch phone) playing around, tease him with some little cash and rent his phone for the day. How awful?

Re: A Day Without a Phone

There was a day I unknowingly left my phone in the office but I  thought someone had stolen it, I called the phone like a million times, it was just ringing , no response ( As if I expected the thief to pick the call, what will I say to him? please return my phone to the following address or else........... what?). I didn't sleep well that night, a lot was going through my head, like now I have to get a new phone which wasn't in my budget, and a new line because don't have time to go to a friendship centre to queue up for a welcome back, and what about my old line so many people already has that number and so on, etc etc etc.

When I went to work the following morning and saw the poor baby( that would be my phone) lying on my desk, my joy knew no bounds.

Re: A Day Without a Phone

I doubt if I can forget my phone anywhere for any significant length of time. I am almost always constantly doing something on it, so it would not take more than 2 minutes to notice that its not with me if I did forget it somewhere.

My wife teases me that its the only competition she has. She has threatened to impound it on one or two occassions.

The only situation I went without a phone for 2 weeks was when I deliberately sold my phone. I wanted to see what life would be like without one. Funny, but I adjusted almost instantly. It was good to know that my life is not dependent on my phone, given my antecedents.

Re: A Day Without a Phone

y'all talking about a day without a phone, i went almost two months without a phone last year. when my nokia 3410 first packed up i was like i can i live on now. to the extent i rented a phone for some days from a pal who was broke (lol). and it was a preety messed up phone at that. later on i guess i got used to it and learnt to enjoy the peace and quietness it brings. but now that i'm back online i can never see my self going phoneless again. i just wouldn't be me again i guess. like that old Econet ragga advert my phone sure is my buddy!

Re: A Day Without a Phone

Oh my goodness! This brings a very nasty experience (thank God it ended well though) rushing back. I had walked to a Uni. near my house to find out a thing or two about a professional course. Felt too lazy to walk the 10 minutes distance back home and got on the bus. I made a call, shrugged out of my jacket (it was winter and quite warm on the bus) and ......... came down with my jacket on my arms at the next stop. I decided to call a friend and tell him to meet up with me...alas... no phone. And it was the new one as well (Sony E. k700i... let's just say it's significantly not-so-cheap). The bus was thankfully still stagnant right behind me at the traffic signal and I ran back. I must have left the phone on the empty chair beside me while taking off my jacket. A Japanese lady saw my frantic but futile attempt to attract the driver and grabbed my phone but the bus decided to move right then. Oh God... didn't know I could still run like that.... Mary Onyeali would have been impressed. Off to the next stop I ran thinking the lady would wait for me there. No way! I went into a booth and called my friend who I was gonna call to meet up with in the first place and well, sorry o but I was so upset I was crying by then even though the phone was insured and I could just call for another one. I had the most horrible day. I could go on and on but to cut it short I called the bus garage and the operator immediately called all Bus 55 drivers to see if a Japanese lady gave any of them a lost phone. Nope. I finally called back in the evening and was told that yeah, some lady left a phone with a Bus 55 driver that fitted the description I gave. I was so happy I started crying all over again. What can I say... I've been called a town crier once or twice.....

Anyways, I've been there, done that and going without your phone especially when it’s not deliberate is a nasty experience to put it mildly. Thanks diakim for giving us the chance to share these experiences.

Re: A Day Without a Phone

Man, spending a day without my phone??? I'll be Crazy.

The only time I lost my phone,I was going to see a new custormer, took a Taxi, got to the place, only to find out that the client was not around.

So I had to call him,but alas!!!!!!!

Bad enough, it was that morning that I just editted my phone book.

So went with my phone a phonebook containing over 400 contacts.

I still haven't mde up on it after a year.

Since then, My phone has become my third leg, instead of you now..smile

A day without my phone,.......I am not even dreaming of it anymore

Re: A Day Without a Phone

Mine happened a couple of weeks bk. I actually forgot it in my brother's car on my way  to work.

Thankfully, i quickly recalled where it is I forgot it and immediately called him to help keep it with him.
The rest of the day felt so odd, cos even if i am not receiving calls, i love to toy with it a lot. Each time a phone rang in the office i quickly remembered mine, but thank God, my mind was always at rest cos I knew it was in safe hands and not stolen.

Well,  my sister's was recently stolen under funny circumstances and she felt so bad. You need to have seen her looking so moody. I tried putting myself in her shoes and could not just bear the thought of it.

Re: A Day Without a Phone

Its been 10 days now since I last used my phone. Initially I thought I couldn't live without it. It just packed up and I have no intention of repairing it.  I just hope I get a new one soon but really it could be hell living without your phone.

Re: A Day Without a Phone

:d You remind me of the night I lost my a phone. I can still remember that cold night. Men, I was sweating in the cold. A new LG G3100.

I initially wanted to "purnish" myself for being so careless, but I later had to quickly buy a new one to use in the interim because my folks were putting so much pressure on me. You know how it goes: Business calls.

To the point: A day without a phone was very terrible for me. I was very lonely.

Being a tech-freak, I was always busy with this phone. Lossing it was just too much for me. Lost so many phone numbers, addresses, tons of text messages. (The phone had a huge memory)

If you have never lost a phone, pray it never happens to you because a day without your mobile phone is a terrible day indeed, especially if you are a businessman/woman.

So long...

Ra you must be very lucky this did not happen in our very own Nigeria.
Or what do you think, fellow Nigerians?

Well, what can I say? I was indeed lucky. But I want to beleive that there are still some of us who will do likewise in Nigeria as well, the only problem will be locating Bus 55.....

Re: A Day Without a Phone

exactly what i mean Ra, it isn't easy locating a bus, especially when you did not board it at the park.
