With the recent arrest and disgraceful exit of Prof. Fabian Osuji, arrest and detention of Barr. Tafa Baolgun. Exposed Sen. A. Wabara and some of the Lawmaker.
I think the man is try to fight the corruption to a stand still.
I need your own opinion on the new development going on in the country.

I am totally in support of the ongoing and hopefully sustainable corruption fighting efforts. To get rid of corruption, it has to be tackled from the top. Last time I was in Naija, 100 percent of the cops that stopped me solicited for money. 100% all of them, hat aint too good! One also asked for the receipt of a used phone in the trunk of my car. I was just laughing and he was wondering why, because he asked a foolish question.

Well i am really impressed by a news in relation to the 207 government houses sold in Lagos. The link of the news is http://www.vanguardngr.com/articles/200 … 42005.html The particular excerpt that amazed me in his speech is
Obasanjo says..............I have a document sent to me anonymously (copy attached), where two hundred and seven people had been allocated or offered land property for sale surreptitiously; some with full payment, some with deposit and some without payment at all.” I also feel personally embarrassed that almost all members of my wife’s family are on that list.
well for the full content of the news just visit the later link. and Obasanjo really needs a KUDOS.

I had always thought OBJ to be sincere, albeit painstakingly slow, in his efforts to make Naija a better place. Even when the impacts of his efforts are not readily felt by the ordinary guy on the street, the fact remains that it takes more than 1 man, 100 infact, to run a country. He needs immense support and for people who are purportedly with him in his fight to see his vision and run with it. Alas, it is this same people who sabotage good efforts and intentions. Back to the point, I applaud his recent efforts with standing ovation. I throw my weight solidly behind him (well, for all that it's worth) and wish him the best. My fear now is that he is not 'taken care of' like Bola Ige. I mean let's face it, in a country where the Attorney G of the federation is murdered and nothing comes of it, who is to guarantee the president's safety, especially when he starts stepping on fat toes?

I think Nigeria needs people with fresh ideas and not just the recycling of old generals, come to look at it, we are still being ruled bu the same bunch of people, just different positions but the same old ideologies and thought process. Corruption has to be tackled, because most Nigerian feel they can always get away with anything as long as they have money, sadly to say, my self included, I can run the red light at a traffic stop, I know the worst that will happen is that I will be out of 1500 naira and I am on my merry way, which is sad. Corruption has to be tackled from the top all the way to the bottom.

I have been following recent events in Nigeria with deep interest. For once, I think OBJ is serious. He really has no choice. Does he? He is not growing younger and is moving close to his grave everyday. He has won a second and last term as President. He has nothing to loose. He would tighten his fist and blow them (corrupt politicians & civil servants) all.
Forgive me, this thread is not appropriate on this forum. I cannot see the link in the topic to "Mobile Phone Use" for which this forum was originally created.
I'm dissapointed that Mr Admin also contributed to the thread without gently pointing this out to the one who initiated it, before direct them to Nairaland. Nairaland is the appropriate place for this kind of discussion, if you guys/gals don't mind.
Let's stick to the main theme of this forum: Mobile Phones in Nigeria and nothing more.
Thanks and God bless Nigeria, my motherland.

@niyyie if u think this thread is not appropriate why then was a post section created titled: "Socialize!". a socilaize or lounge part in any forum is so members can talk about whatever they want other than what the forum focuses on. eg soccer, food, films etc. so if a member feels like letting other people know about his feelings on politics in this forum under the socilize section he/she is free to do so. what u should have said is that shallar! should have "considered" posting this on nairaland and not that it aint right to post it here. Nairaland is a great site but i think mr admin trying to get both of them started at the same time is somehow like trying to eat eat garri with your right hand and pap/akamu with your left. if nairaland was owned by someone else it would have been more understandable and a sort of competition. like u know: post on this site mainly on GSM matters, and on nairaland on everything.
well goodluck to naira land. i'll probably join it when activity picks up. but for now i think mobilenigeria provides me everything i need "rant-wise".

@niyyie,
Good point I must say, but people like me have a lil' problem with keeping up with so many fora.

I just cannot disagree with you.
I agree with you:
We need to kick off the development with a group of no nonsense technocrats.
The next government must be run by technocrats.... enough of gerontocracy.
However, I would like to see a preservation of harmonious Religious and Cultural values in the country.
I don't want to see a Nigeria go down the road of post-modern US/Europe.

axeprince, you never fail to baffle me. How did you get to be this thick? Just kidding. You're a chief troublemaker though, I’ll give you that. Now re those words that knocked you off.... go home and ask your madam, then come back tomorrow and say something diminutive about lawyers.
@purekernel...true talk.

@ axeprince: I couldn't help but laugh out loud when I read your joke. I'm in a office; the secretary couldn't help but come over to see what was making me laugh.
I agree with you on the fact that it ain't a good idea to be active in so many online fora. I already pointed this out to Seun in one of our private conversation. If he could merge the database for the two sites so one could access the two sites with the same username and password, that would be perfect.
I personally have not signed up on Nairaland either. Call it a phobia if you like. This Mobile Nigeria Forum is okay for me.
For the "So long...", it is a way of saying "goodbye". I enjoy ending my statements with "So long..."
I enjoyed your sense of humour all the same. ![]()

I have no problem with the people enjoying the Mobile Nigeria Forum, and using it to post a variety of topics! My point of view is that there are X million Internet-literate Nigerians, and 315 of them are on Mobile Nigeria.
Nairaland is for the (X million - 315) people who no longer have the opportunity to register on this forum. There is no reason for MobileNigeria not to grow in depth, even though it can no longer grow in size.

niyyie: I quite understand your point, but why do we have this segment called socialize? I can express my feeling any way I want it and anywhere I feel is ok. Shekenah

basically for one,corruption is a social norm in Nigeria.everybody is corruption ridden to the very core of our souls.Obasanjo doesnt have direct hold or say on impact of corruption in the country ,i mean from obasanjo down to the illiterate local govenrnment chairmen or whatever,these people are all corupt,they just cant help it you know.Corruption can not be stamped out completely even 20% in the country if these people ,so called rulers are not ousted.
