MTN is seen as the 'bad boy' of Nigerian telecommunications (high tariff, low validity period, etc.) However, MTN remains the most popular network! To those that own MTN lines (I do), how would you describe your experience so far? Were you tempted by Glo's 1 Naira line offer? (I was!)
Femi:
How can I be satisfied when I am paying through my nose to use my mobile phone? I am optimistic that the next few months will witness a radical change in call costs. I can wait patiently ... Nigerian vultures are patient birds ...
Adecrown:
Seun,
My answer is yes and no, I admire their can do attitude of breaking into communities others thought was not possible to cover for now. However I detest them seriously because of the way they have used their own monopoly to replace that of Nitel. Can you imagine someone treating us as people who do not have a choice and a little bit of official double speak here and there. I am particularly glad inspite of hiccups here and there that Glomobile and VMobile have suddenly become alive and are forcing MTN's hands. I am also persuaded that very soon coverage will no longer be a critical factor in choice of Network since Glo and VMobile are already spreading fast all over the place.

Seun,
MTN was the Network to be on at the beginning but of late instead of setting the pace they are reacting. A Network that is always reacting without ever being pro-active is a network that will not go far. Sadly also, it has been quite easy for people to dump MTN sim card and go for other Networks. They should sit up and at least try to genuinely retain their customers through genuine and well thought out strategies and products. Finally they should know that Nigerians are not stupid we are able to read through the lines.
Toyin:
Dear MTN,
How can i be satisfied mtn, when it exploits its customers? I could not change to psb, I buy N 750 card for N 800. In fact, I'm moving to Glo
Toyin
Toyin,
I had the same experience of not being able to switch to PSB when I was on MTN. But when I switched to Glo I realised that the only real advantage I have (apart from PSB of course) is that I can buy credit in increment of 500 naira. Why is it compulsory to spend 3000 naira per month on a phone? What one justs want to use it to send SMS?
By reducing validity period, they end up having lots of people who won't bother to buy credits (people who would have been spending maybe 2000 per month if allowed to. Currently I'd say I envy Vmobile and NITEL subscribers! my phone doesn't support GPRS.

Seun
hey just posting for the first time on the site. it's a nice site, well done Seun. anyway i guess i am sorta enjoying MTN...just got back online after almost 2 months without a phone! anyway they should reduce their tariffs. yeah that's the most important need.

Gbemle:
I wonder what anybody is stil doing on MTN???If I were You(Plural), I woould have moved since.Anyway, I am not advocating for anybody(they are all evils of the same feather), but I would still preffer Vmobile, at least their prices are going down and their validity period has been extended.

hi seun,
Well, I must say MTN is going down in their service to customers.their billing system isn't accurate(today they bill you on per second rates, tomorrow on per minuete) in fact you cant tell if u r on per sec or per min.even getting to the per sec is a tug of war affair.
Again the validity period is too short and payment per calls is high. Also, I had expected MTN to be the first operator in Nigeria to come out with the use of GPRS and WAP facility on their network, due to their fast rate of achievements, but they gave that away to glo mobile.
The only thing i enjoy in the mtn network is the wide coverage. All others services are not too effective and some manageable. I prefer using my Vmobile line most times than my MTN.
Well right now i aint to satisfied with them. Maybe it's all this SIM price crash / SIM card give away stuff. It's like thier network is congested. cos for sure their services as related to calls are very poor. You make a call and spend half of the time saying hello, and making sure the person you called is actualy hearing you. This happens especially with distant calls. Also MTN could bring out their N 400 airtime in card form, cos looking for where to buy it is like trying to bed a girl without putting in work/time or money ... whatever. HAPPY NEW YEAR everybody. from what i hear about Vmobile i just might be joining em and leaving MTN behind...just might sha.

Am satisfied with MTN in the aspect of calls, but they need to improve their data service like Glo, and also give us some free stuffs too, afterall we consumers (who they are always Milking) made them who they are today.
