Computer Village Ikeja: roadside retailers raided, phones seized.

Computer Village Ikeja
Anyone who was in Ikeja on Friday 25th February, will surely knows what i want to talk about, the place is too terrible, it was this KAI people who raided the place and they carted phones worth millions of naira, simply because they are displaying their phone by the road side.  But it turn to brouala when the computer boyz went on rampage an started shelling those law enforcers.  I nearly die of teargas as it was freely used that day. If you have been to the place you will know what am talking about.

So my people at mobile forum, i want you to at least contribute your own opinion concerning the activities of the said VILLAGE. Is it place to visit or what do you thnk?

Re: Computer Village Ikeja: roadside retailers raided, phones seized.

Hello Shallar,

I think it's very crazy of those people to raid Ikeja Village and cart away phones.  Very irresponsible action.  Very very irresponsible.  I hope no-one suffered any injuries in this process.

I mean, here are people who are trying to make a honest living and you just finish them for no sensible reason.  And you wonder why our youths are so restless and why they feel crime is justifiable.  I think what we have is a country where too many wrong people are in leadership positions.

But when you think about it a little more, you realize it is the same "suffering masses" that will vote the wrong person into power because they are too susceptible to gimmicks.

Tell us more.  How did it end?

Re: Computer Village Ikeja: roadside retailers raided, phones seized.

Seun,
The place was too bad as am saying earlier, a lot of damages to cars packed alongside the road, cos thye came in convoy of about 15 buses loaded with this deadly MOPOL, (Tafa Boyz), this will be my first time seeing lady mopol shooting. Mehn, if u see the on my phone, cos i try to snap the action despite the tear-gas, even am still suffering from the little I inhale. Very Very sad.

But I suspect a foul play among the shop owners, who suport the action's of the law enforcers to punish the road hawker, not only phone dealer, they also raided all the software selling boyz, including those sellin soft drinks. I nearly fainted when i see the brutality. Nigerians are suffering.

If anyone died it would be in the papers, so I guess I should be glad about that at least.  Post the pics, let's see them.  PM me if you're having difficulty doing this.

What else can I say? Its kinda sad when things like that happen and the government keeps telling us that they are out to make things better for Nigerians.  The reason for the raids is not far away; some people are jealous that the ones selling at the road sides are snatching their customers so what should be the solution? You guessed right.

Re: Computer Village Ikeja: roadside retailers raided, phones seized.

well, according to what I read in the guardian newspaper of yesterday, wednesday 30th march, It was discovered that most of the Ikeja road side retailers and hawkers mostly sell stolen phones. The stories gathered from victims of stolen handsets were so pathetic. Contributions by most victims were  that such people should be sent away from the market arena and that any shop owner who harbours a hawker or table owner should be arrested/punished, whatever. Really these people sell these stolen phones at amazing slashed prizes, how then do you expect shop owners who pay heavily for shop rents to sell their own phones?

Well, I strongly believe something should be done to curb them, but then the manner in which it was taken according to shallar is rather brutal.
